Flying with a
WINDLAB coach.
If you are learning a new skill or looking to fine tune current skills, book coaching with one of our in-house coaches/instructors. Our coaches can guide your through the progression chart, from entry level belly flight, to advanced skills like headdown and dynamic flying.

What is an External Coach?
An External Coach is a freelance coach who is not employed by WINDLAB.
WINDLAB welcomes external coaches as long as they:

Demonstrate the necessary experience and skill level.

Demonstrate safe practices in the wind tunnel.

Are respectful of our team, tunnel and practices.

Adhere to WINDLAB's rules, regulations & standard practices.

Agree to take a hands-off coaching approach. All spotting must be conducted by the WINDLAB instructor only. The External Coach is not permitted to spot the flyer.
Spotting & Spotting Fee's
If you are an external coach or are planning to fly with an external coach, please note:

You will always have a dedicated WINDLAB instructor on the door for safety purposes.

All safety spotting must be conducted by the WINDLAB instructor only. The External Coach is not permitted to spot the flyer.

A Spotters Fee of RM50 per flyer, per session, will be implemented for flyers who require select spotting.

The Spotters Fee is mandatory for high-speed flying, including sit fly and head down techniques, as well as limited low-speed spotting including back and front layouts.

The fee is applicable for flyers who have not yet mastered 6 points of motion (high speed) or transitions (high and low speed).

This fee does not apply to sessions where the flyer is receiving coaching from a WINDLAB Instructor. It is only applicable to sessions with external coaches.

Any applicable Spotting Fees can be paid on the booking date.

If WINDLAB deems an external coach to be unfit to provide safe coaching, they may deny or remove the external coach at any stage. No refunds will be provided.

External Coaches and/or flyers must request spotting at least 14 days in advance. WINDLAB will make every effort to accommodate requests and will inform you at the earliest available opportunity if a spotter cannot be found.
Yes, you can fly with your own jumpsuit and helmet, as long as they are approved by your WINDLAB instructor before you step in the wind. You will need to remove any items which are not suitable for the wind tunnel such as camera's. The instructors may also ask you to apply tape to areas of your helmet such as camera mounts.

Who can fly WITHOUT a coach?
Proflyer's may choose to fly without a coach they:

Can safely enter & exit the wind without assistance.

Are only flying skills which they have prior experience executing in a wind tunnel, and can safely fly all 6 points of motion/transitions without instructor assistance.

Have an understanding of safe wind speeds.
Please note: The instructor may stop the flight or remove a flyer from the wind if they deem the flyer to be a risk. Refunds will not be issued if this occurs. Flyers must declare their flight plan to the relevant instructor before the flight session and ensure they meet all the requirements prior to the session start.
